Building contractor: City of Helsinki. Helsinki Housing Co-operative (Helsingin Asuntokeskuskunta Haka) and Social Housing Production (Sosiaalinen asuntotuotanto Oy Sato)

History of the place: Pihlajamäki was one of the first mass production housing areas and prefabrication here was applied for the first time on a large scale in Finland. It’s town plan is based on five cells that were designed as separate entities with local shops. Special attention was directed to safeguarding the natural surroundings.

Infrastructure: Shops, local transport, schools, kindergartens, sport and play grounds.
